New Inclusive Playground in Madrid’s Villaverde District

The Madrid district of Villaverde now features a new inclusive playground equipped with adapted play elements and certified shock-absorbing flooring by Industrias Agapito. This initiative is part of the City Council’s commitment to developing accessible, inclusive public spaces focused on children’s well-being.

The new play area is designed to ensure the participation of children with and without disabilities, offering features that promote interaction, imagination, and play on equal terms.

The centerpiece of this inclusive playground is the Fire Station a playset structure adapted for wheelchair users, featuring access ramps, play panels, skill games, sensory elements, and themed decorations. Its open and accessible design allows all children to play together, encouraging physical and emotional development through an inclusive approach.

The playground also includes a wheelchair-accessible carousel that enables barrier-free spinning and shared motion, and a double inclusive spring rider shaped like a ladybug, with a wide and accessible seat, secure handholds, and front-facing design to facilitate communication and cooperative play. Additionally, a Tribox nest swing has been installed, specifically suited for group play and children with reduced mobility, thanks to its enveloping seat and safe structure.

The intervention also features continuous in-situ shock-absorbing flooring that ensures safety in case of accidental falls and enhances the overall comfort and accessibility of the installation.

Thanks to this project, the Villaverde district gains a new play space that brings inclusion into everyday life and transforms the park into a place for shared enjoyment, development, and connection.
