Katiuska Park brings zarzuela to children’s play

The Villaverde district, in the city of Madrid, has unveiled Katiuska Park, a distinctive children’s playground delivered by Industrias Agapito and entirely custom-designed based on a unique cultural concept.

Inspired by the zarzuela “Katiuska”, which gives the park its name, the project transforms this artistic reference into a themed play experience where design, color, and storytelling are integrated into an innovative recreational environment. The park stems from a public tender that proposed the creation of spaces linked to the cultural identity of local squares.

Industrias Agapito, a playground manufacturer, has developed a fully bespoke proposal in which every element has been specifically designed for this space. Shapes, colors, and graphics have been adapted to the “Katiuska” theme, resulting in a unique installation that does not replicate standard solutions.

The park features a large inclusive playset that enables children of different abilities to participate, promoting shared play and inclusion. This element is complemented by swings, a jumping area, and various play zones that expand opportunities for physical activity.

Among the most notable features is a large playset with tubular slides and elevated routes, encouraging exploration, coordination, and the development of motor skills in a safe environment. All components have been designed following criteria of customization and thematic coherence.

The project is completed with a fully customized safety impact-absorbing surface, incorporating exclusive colors and designs that reinforce the park’s visual identity and enhance the play experience from the ground up.

In addition, textile shade structures have been installed to improve user comfort and allow more efficient use of the space throughout the year.

The project also includes an outdoor calisthenics area, extending the park’s use to teenagers and adults and promoting physical activity in public space.
